For over 100 years, German car manufacturers have produced some of the finest automobiles. These elegant designs can be seen gracing the cobblestone streets of old-world Germany and their roaring presence can be felt while traveling on the Autobahn. The third mix of Hot Wheels Car Culture for 2021, Deutschland Design, is a celebration of classic and modern designs.

Our first stop on the Deutschland Design express takes us to the 1950s, where a vintage Volkswagen is wearing a Porsche logo. No, it’s not an error! Decades ago, Porsche was known for its six-cylinder engine vehicles – not vans. Porsche used Volkswagen buses from its parent company as support vehicles for their race teams.
Deutschland Design then takes us to 1971, when a small German tuning company of former Mercedes engineers took a damaged sedan and transformed it into a racing hero. That company was AMG, and their infamous “Rote Sau” – which translates to “Red Pig” in German – finished 2nd at the 24 Hours of Spa endurance race.
Meanwhile, in the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally, two Porsche 959 rally cars finished one-two in their class. It was an epic achievement, and that famous livery has become iconic. For Deutschland Design, the Porsche 959 (1986) is reimagined without its iconic deco, as it's stripped down to the white car underneath – showcasing the vehicle’s epic German design.
In the late ’90s, the second-generation Audi S4 Quattro received a modern makeover – both aesthetically and under the hood. Initially, the elegant body design was a hit in the entry-level luxury class, but soon performance enthusiasts fell in love with the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as part of the upgraded B5 powertrain. The Hot Wheels Audi S4 Quattro casting makes its debut in 2021 Car Culture as part of this Deutschland Design series.
Last but not least, the third generation BMW M3 launched onto the scene in 2000 as another titan in the entry-level luxury class. Equipped with an in-line 6-cylinder engine that was capable of producing nearly 360hp, the BMW M3 E46 delivered on pure driving pleasure. Deutschland Design brings you our second release of the Hot Wheels BMW M3 E46 casting – a modified take on BMW’s already powerful design. Equipped with black Real Riders 10-spoke modern wheels and paint that is meant to resemble BMW’s factory Laguna Seca Blue, this Hot Wheels vehicle looks fast even while sitting idle on display in your collection.
