For the first time, Mattel Creations has partnered with a French artist. Paris-based NDJOLIJEAN reimagined our beloved UNO game with artwork that plays with form, color, and shape. Jean Jacques Ndjoli, founder of NDJOLIJEAN, never travels without his UNO deck and has even created special rules for a faster-paced game, including discarding multiple cards on your turn as long as they all share the same number or symbol – and if they’re action cards, all the actions take effect at once!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jean Jacques Ndjoli, founder of NDJOLIJEAN, is a creative director who creates art through experience, using bold colors for the spaces people may inhabit. His explorations reveal new levels of complexity in form and function, as he aspires to surprise himself as much as the viewer and participant in the worlds he creates.

DESIGNING THE DECK

“I wanted the inspiration to be fully out of my headspace,” Ndjoli says. The 1-9 cards, for example, are each patterned with a matching number of lines.

If you play at Ndjoli’s home, you’ll be faced with stacking draw penalties, multiple discard options, and “The Cut.” We added those rules to our signature deck.
