What’s the fastest way to find a car?
Our AI search engine makes it easy to find any car. The fastest method is to tap Search and enter the SKU number (often on the back of the package). If the car is out of the package, look for the casting number and release year stamped on the base.
You can also combine descriptive terms—like name, make, model, color, series, or segment—to refine results (for example: Red Treasure Hunt 2017). Partial terms work too.
How do filters work?
Filters are dynamic: after you choose a filter (e.g., Segment), the next filters will only show available options that match your previous selection. For best results, start with broader filters on the left (e.g., Segment), then move right to more specific ones (e.g., Assortment, Year, Color, Rarity). You can combine multiple filters at once.
Who do I contact if I see an error in car information or images?
Open the car’s Product Detail page, tap the “⋯” menu in the top right corner, and choose “Report an Error” to send a correction. If the image is wrong, select Other and explain the issue.
What if a car in my collection doesn’t exist in the database?
Go to Profile → Settings (the gear icon in the top right corner) → Request a Vehicle and submit the details. Our team reviews requests and adds the car if approved.
How often do you add new cars?
We aim to list mass retail releases roughly the month before they reach shelves. For Mattel Creations or event exclusives, we try to add them on the public release day.
Are all cars in the Hot Wheels database?
We focus on Hot Wheels diecast vehicles that were made available to the public (at retail or sold at public events). We don’t showcase prototypes, leaks, announced/coming soon models, or employee-only exclusives. Also not shown: track sets, playsets, extensions/accessories, Monster Trucks, Skate, or non 1:64 scales (except the 1:43 line).
How do I add a car to My Collection?
From any car page or search results, tap the plus (+) icon to Add to Collection. You can adjust quantity and add personal notes for each car.
Can I keep a Wishlist?
Yes. Tap the list icon to Add to Wishlist on any car page or search results. Manage your wishlist from MyGarage → Lists. You can also create personal lists to organize your collection—currently limited to 5 lists per user.
How do I earn badges?
Badges recognize collecting milestones and app interactions. Examples include:
• Adding cars to your collection
• Completing series with progressions
• Collecting cars from certain segments
• Submitting approved database fixes
• Participating in community events
You can see available badges and criteria in Profile → Badges. As you complete a badge in a category, more advanced tiers may appear—rarer badges display unique designs as they progress.
I was a beta tester but I didn’t receive my badge—what should I do?
This can happen if you used a different email to sign up for the beta and the app. Please email hw-beta-testers@mattel.com with your first/last name and the current email you use to log in to the Hot Wheels app.
Which devices can I use this app on?

Does the app work offline?
Some information may be available offline (e.g., your saved collection). For the best experience—search, images, and updates—use the app online.
How do I access my Profile?
Tap the Profile icon in the bottom right corner of the navigation bar to open your Profile page.
How do I make my Profile public?
From your Profile page:
• Tap the Gear icon in the top right corner to access Settings.
• Tap Account Privacy.
• Toggle off Private Account. When public, the toggle will appear grayed out and shifted to the left.
Who can see my Profile?
If your account is set to public, any Hot Wheels Showcase user can view your Profile and the sections you've chosen to display. If your account is private, only approved followers can see your content.
How do I update my Profile picture?
From your Profile page:
• Tap the Pencil icon.
• On the next screen, tap the Pencil icon overlaying your Profile picture.
• You'll be directed to your Mattel Creations account page to update your photo.
Note: Your Profile picture is tied to your Mattel Creations account. Changes made there will be reflected in the app.
How do I update my username?
From your Profile page:
• Tap the Pencil icon.
• Enter your new username in the field provided.
• Tap Save in the upper right corner to confirm.
How do I update my Profile header image?
From your Profile page:
• Tap the Pencil icon.
• Tap the Pencil icon overlaying the header image.
• Choose an image from the provided options.
• Tap Save in the upper right corner to confirm.
How do I customize what’s shown in my Profile?
From your Profile page:
• Tap the Gear icon in the top right corner.
• Tap Account Privacy.
• Toggle on or off any of the following sections to control what others can see on your public Profile:
• Wishlist
• Favorites
• Completed Series
• Earned Badges
How do I follow someone?
The easiest way to find another collector is by searching for them:
• Use the search function on the Discover page to look up a specific username.
• Tap their name in the search results to visit their Profile.
• Tap the Follow button.
Why can't I find a specific user in search?
This can happen for a couple of reasons: the account is set to private, or the username doesn't exist. Make sure you searched for the exact username, including correct spelling and capitalization.
Can I see who's following me?
Yes, your followers are accessible from your Profile page. Tap your follower count to see a list of users that follow you.
