The piston-engine plane, famous for its ability to fly long range missions and reach speeds of over 400 mph, has been recreated with working landing gear and a moving four-blade propeller.

THERE AND BACK
The British nicknamed the P-51 the “Mustang.” Allied bomber crews called them “Little Friends” for their ability to provide escort on round-trip missions from England to Germany.
BEHIND THE DESIGN
This replica celebrates the 85th anniversary of the high-speed, long-range plane. Its distinctive bubble cockpit allowed pilots to easily scan the skies around them.
THE DETAILS
The initials “MB” are printed on the fuselage as the squadron code. An era-accurate roundel is emblazoned on each wing, top and bottom, like the planes of the time.
