It began with a pen, which created a line, and Martin followed it wherever it led. It took her from a childhood in London to solo shows at prestigious galleries and collaborations with fashion and celebrity icons.

DEALING IN ORIGINALS
Martin created entirely new drawings for this UNO deck, filled with thought-provoking and memorable characters and messages. The four double-sided UNO Artiste Extra cards can be combined to create two larger pieces of artwork.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
In addition to her many other talents, Shantell Martin is perhaps best known for her impact in the art world. Creating new connections between fine art, education, design, philosophy, and technology, Martin explores themes such as intersectionality, identity, and play.

“My style is bold, playful, and predominantly line-based. Its quality can carry through different industries and mediums, from lines on paper and dance on stage to words performed live. My inspiration is essentially just about progressing and evolving.”

PLAYING WITH UNO
PLAYING WITH UNO
“I love that UNO can help bring us off our screens and connect people to our friends and family. That’s super meaningful to me.”

DRAWING FOR THE DECK
“It’s super playful and feels like an exhibition in tiny form. I’m excited for people to learn and become familiar with the cards and the characters. There are a few Easter eggs in there for people to discover over time, but I don’t want to give away the fun.”
